ManCave Modeler presents...
Bell P-39D Airacobra

54 Fighter Group. Elmendorf Field, Alaska
Monogram 1/48 scale. circa 1974

Originally produced by Monogram back in the 1960's, it was a pretty well detailed kit for it's time (still not too bad by today's standards).
It came with a complete cockpit, weapons bay, and access to the engine on the starboard side with removable panels.
The starboard side cockpit door could be modeled open or closed and the weapons bay covers were also removable
It's painted with the old Pactra Flats olive drab and Camoflage gray
The decals were from a long since discontinued set by Superscale
somehow, it has survived the ravages of time, several moves and the destructive power of young kids.

Messerschmidt Bf109F & P-51D Mustang
Monogram 1/48 scale. circa 1974

Like the P-39 above, these kits were originally released by Monogram in the 60's and survived the ravages of time, several moves and the destructive power of young kids. The ME 109 is again painted with Pactra flats but Mustang was painted with floquil platinum mist which was about the only thing available in the 60's-70's that would give a bright aluminum finish
Both were built right out of the box.
